Vision of Escaflowne Created by Kawamori Shoji and released by Studio Sunrise, it was shown in the Philippines by GMA 7 as part of its Anime Assault. It's a fine mixture of fantasy, and mechanics, with the musical work of the "Warsaw Philaharmonic Orchestra" as its opening theme. This is based on the manga of the same title, running in Shonen Ace.The story is about a quiet and shy highschool girl named Kanzaki Hitomi, who has a strange hobby - reading tarot cards, which most of her reading come true. The story starts during a track practice in which Hitomi was promised a kiss be her crush, Amano-sempai is she runs 100m in 13 seconds. As soon as she approaches the finish line, she sees a vision of a young man and a dragon. Before she finishes the race, Van Fanel, the young heir to the throne of the kingdom of Fanelia, in his quest to become the rightful heir slays the dragon right before Hitomi's eyes and teleports himself and Hitomi to the land of Gaea.
She was dragged into the war between the forces of good and evil. After witnessing th destruction of Fanelia, Van's homeworld, she escaped together with Van on Fanelia's legendary protector Guymelef, the Escaflowne( built by the ancient Ispano Clan, which only members of the royal family can operate with a dragon's heart or "Dragu Energist"), with the Zaibach empire's cloaked Dragonslayers on their tail, led by the insane Dilandou Albatou on his guymelef, Alseides, Van and Hitomi is ruthlessly pursued across Gaea and met allies and foes along the way. Among them is a member of the Astorian Caeli(Heavenly) Knights, the dashing Alen Schezar and his guymelef, the Scherezade(whom they meet at Castelo Fort), Princess Millerna Aston, Meruru, the wealthy Dryden Fassa, Van's older brother Strategos(Folken Lacour Fane)l, the Zaibach's mad emperor, Dornkirk, and others. In the end, love and personal conflicts notwithstanding, though forced to confront harsh truths about the people and ways of life they thought they could believe in, faced with the consequences of choices made in the past, and trying to cope with their own, sometimes confusing, emotions, they still found a way to defeat the marauding Zaibach forces..
