Gon's father, Jin, a Hunter, left Kujira-tou(Whale Island) when he was very small. Curious about what a Hunter might be, Gon decided to take the test to qualify as a Hunter himself. He learns that Hunters can be hunters of anything. A Hunter's license gives the bearer special free access to any public facilities so that they can get information that others can't. In return, Hunters guard the peace, maintain the balance between man and nature, and help endangered species.
